Welcome to Alertra, Now What?Contacts (Part 4 of 4)Prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | NextWhen you first create your account, your account e-mail is your only contact. You can add new contacts here, or by clicking "Contacts" in the Menu window. Contacts are e-mail addresses, phone numbers, SMS numbers, etc.. that are notified whenever your device goes down and when it comes back up. Tip: Don't have your only contact be an e-mail address hosted on the same network or server that you are monitoring. If the network or server goes down, you will not receive the DOWN notification because... the network and/or server is down. What you will get is the UP notification followed by the DOWN notification when your server comes back on-line.
On the Contacts page, you can add many types of contacts. You can also set up the Default Notification Schedule. This schedule is used when your device changes its state (from UP to DOWN and back again) to decide which of your contacts should be notified. You should make sure that the contacts you add, are also added to the default schedule. Incidentally, you can create device specific notification schedules. Normally you would only do this if different people were responsible for the different devices. Prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | Next |
